Spiny Succulents is Jeff Moore’s follow up to Soft Succulents; the spiky yin to the velvety yang. (Jeff Moore is owner of Solana Succulents, a small retail specialty nursery in Solana Beach. This book will be his fourth publication.) Join Jeff for a presentation featuring the mostly spiny sculptural succulents – cacti, euphorbias, pachypodiums, alluaudias, and even some ‘succulent adjacent’ spinies, including terrestrial bromeliads, cycads, and other plants that belong in the conversation.

There will be some introductory habitat images, in addition to plant photos from faraway places growing here in California and the desert Southwest. Most images are of mature specimen plants, taken in collector or grower’s yards or botanical gardens (including the Ruth Bancroft Garden). Jeff will discuss them from a grower/collector’s perspective, and offer any insights about incorporating them in your own garden.

Books will be available for purchase on the day of the presentation and Jeff will be signing books after the talk. (You have an option to pre-purchase the Spiny Succulents book with your lecture ticket. The book retails for $39.95 plus tax.)
